We were traveling up north, and we stopped to let Scout out for a potty break. She is a black Great Dane and quite regal. I had her in a pink plaid coat, because it was a brisk fall day. Some guy in a pickup truck slowed down, unrolled his window, and yelled out to Mr. J, "What did that poor dog ever do to you?" We still laugh about this.
I'm not understanding the lazy humans part. Can you explain?
I feel like the lazy humans are the ones who never walk their dogs in freezing temps. I'd rather Dezi wear boots so she CAN go for walks when it's -35. Aside from her feet she can totally manage that kind of cold.
We bought grippy socks for our male Golden Retriever, Doby, because he has issues with his back legs and on our hard floors he can't get any traction. We call them his "Stompin' Socks" because when we put them on (only on his hind legs) he'll stomp his back legs around for a minute or two getting used to them. He doesn't mind them, and they really work well!
Same, Jen. I bought a pair (Is it still a pair if it's 4?) for our Chinook years ago when she had trouble walking. They helped. I felt terrible, though. She was not happy about them.
LOL I'm giggling over Stompin Socks 😁 That's adorable.
I wish I would have thought of grippy socks for my old girl, Mojo. Late in her life she had a terrible time on my wood floors and it was sad to watch her legs just slide out from under her 😪
Baby Girl Dog has an entire wardrobe of doggie jackets and wearable blankets that I made for her, because she doesn't have a lot of fur and she chills easily. If commercially made dog clothes fit her (she's a disabled mixed breed dog, so that's why I took up just making clothes for her in the first place), she'd probably be the cutest thing in a puffy dog parka that you ever saw!
This is good for me to know about why your dog has to wear clothing. I've been planning to write a post about people who "dress up" their dogs but I need to consider dogs like yours that wear clothing for a purpose. 😊
Thank you for thinking of 'the rest of us'. That said; while Baby Girl Dog does like staying warm, her clothes also reflect her personality, (she's cute and spunky) and her wearing something cute, gives folks something to focus on beside her disability (she's a tripawd), or, the apparent age of Old Man Dog (who will, this year, likely also be wearing a wearable blanket on trips outside; he's turning 15 soon).
I never tried booties, but it gets pretty cold here in Michigan. I bought a few different jackets for my elderly Beagle, Annabelle. She was like Houdini getting out of a straight jacket. I would send her outside in a coat, and she would return naked. Her next outing would be in one of her backup jackets while I plodded around in my own snow boots looking for the one she cast off last time. I miss her antics.
I would share a picture of her wearing the purple puppy parka during her final winter, but I don't think comments supports pictures. She had the grumpiest face in the photo, glaring at me with her fuzzy hood circling her scowl.
Winter is MUCH less fearsome down here in southern Idaho, so dog boots aren't as crucial. But I do love wasting time reading Amazon reviews of almost anything, and this seems to be a particularly rich vein!
I have 3 dog boots of the same size velcroed together, gathering dust, as we wait for the 4th boot to magically reappear. The lone boot was shaken loose by a large retriever who humored me until we ventured into winter, then the prancing commenced. I picture the book "The Mitten" by Jan Brett with a host of tiny creatures stuffed inside.
Wait, “clothing rack”? 🧐😜

Bahahaha that’s priceless! I can’t believe he took the time to stop just to say that!
I laughed at the reviews but then got sad for those dogs who are mere entertainment or making their lazy human’s life easier.
I tried them on our last dog. He walked awkwardly and I worried it would affect his joints. Back they went.

Sorry. I realized after I wrote that’s not what I meant. I’m in a bit of shock here nursing a family member.
Ooooooh no! I hope nothing too serious!
I was thinking about wiping wet muddy paws.
Ahhhh yes...that. It'll never NOT be a thing 😁
I know that this is something at least one fictional dog I know of despises....

Continued..If put booties on Baby Girl Dog, I would -definitely- have to get that on video.

Awww. I want a fashion show video. 🥰🙏
Well, if I can find someone to hold a camera, I'll let you know. ;)

Hahaha so cute. I'm glad you have some lovely memories of her that make you smile ❤️

Aren't they great? It amazes me how much time people spend just trying to make others laugh via reviews.
My favorites are the ones that are unintentionally hilarious.

😂
Hahahaha!
I am so tempted to get some boots for the cat now. I think she would forgive me eventually. After her paralysis wore off
Lol it would be worth it just for the video!
